§ 2-87. Qualifications of officers; abolishing or consolidating offices.

  • All elective and appointive officers shall possess the qualifications provided by law or ordinance. The city council by majority vote shall have the power, at any time and when not prohibited by state law, to abolish any office, the appointment to which is made by the mayor with the advice and consent of the council. The council may consolidate any office, the appointment to which is made by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the council, and may require any elective or appointive officer to perform any duties of any officer whose office has been abolished, or the duties of any other office now or hereafter created.
