§ 11-27. Appointment of personnel.

The mayor shall appoint, with the consent of the council, a chief of the fire department, and all paid firefighters. All appointments shall be for a probationary term of one year. If the probationary term of appointment has been satisfactory, the mayor, with the consent of the council, may make the appointment permanent, so long as the appointee is competent, maintains good conduct and is physically able to perform assigned duties.
